The Key to Parliment

July 2013

The Singapore Parliament have purchased the Microvideo HDK 300 Down stream keyer which is used as part of the Parliament’s in-house video production facility to key graphics generated from an external HD character generator inside the Chamber during the actual Parliament Sittings.

Kenny Phua of PTL explains: “Before the introduction of the HDK 300 Keyer, the video displayed on the large video displays in the House Chamber had a latency of almost one second which was very disturbing to the Members of the House. We assisted the House in removing the video latency with the use of HDK300 by demonstrating that there was negligible propagation video signal latency between the input and output of the Keyer. It is a relatively simple install, but we gave the House full satisfaction in removing the latency and they enjoy crisp HD video quality.”

Remote cueing provides complete control

June 2013

Hong Kong

Cable operator PCCW has acquired a Microvideo HDB 300 to decode WSS cues on delayed news transmissions that are broadcast over the border into Southern China.

The News room and MCR are located in different parts of Hong Kong, so needed a way of remotely controlling play out so that the appropriate sections of programme are censored as required by the authorities. A cue to trigger the censored output was inserted into the VBI space before being sent to the MCR. At the MCR, the cue is decoded by the HDB 300 which then provides a tally signal to enable equipment which blocks transmission of the specific news item.
